What We're About
low impact fashion for everyone
Named after my grandmother's maiden name, Hawthorne, these projects are a love letter to the women who came before me. Thorne is a one woman show located in a small kitchen in Cincinnati, however, the processes come from thousands of years of work study by women from various cultures who discovered and mastered the art of natural dyeing. My specialty is silk but I also use bamboo and cotton and can dye any natural fiber, which are all biodegradable and avoid microplastics that pollute our planet and bodies. All dyes are nature based, low impact, and used in small batches. These practices help to directly reduce individual impacts on the planet by consumers. As we grow as a brand, Thorne is constantly seeking to increase our sustainability efforts. This is a perpetual journey to slow down fast fashion and we promise to only get better with time.

About the owner
Rikkie Elyse is the lead natural dyer at Thorne Naturals. While still studying at the University of Cincinnati, she dove into the world of natural color in hopes to bring more of it into her life and others. She now spends her time working with businesses and customers to create the plant dyed pieces of their dreams while spreading the natural dye gospel everywhere she goes.
